Policy Banner 1.0.1

A while back on afp548.com, Joel Rennich posted an article about the bannersample project that ships with the XCode tools. While it's a neat idea, to quote a buddy of mine, "we looked at it, and it's kinda neat, but somebody needs to make it really work." That somebody was me. You can customize it by editing the Policy.rtf file inside the package, replacing the logo.gif file, and editing the timeout parameter in the Info.plist file. Package name bug fixed 9/22/07.

Your description of this software (which I first saw on VersionTracker a few minutes ago) is amusing.

Text is partially hidden

I'm glad you put this up, however when I installed it, I got a banner window with text that runs off the right side of the text field. The text disappears. There's no horizontal scroll. Also, when I replace logo.gif, my new logo does not appear.

I opened the source and played around in Interface Builder a bit to try to fix the text box, but to no avail. I'm not a programmer and really don't understand what's going on in Xcode. I'm running 10.4.10.

How do I remove it!

Some unknown software package installed your "Policy Banner" with out informing me. I don't find it amusing, especially when I was not informed of its exisitence until I re-booted for the first time in 6 weeks or so. How do I get rid of it!

...and this is Paul's fault, somehow as you imply, exactly HOW?

Paul had most likely nothing to do with whoever installed Policy Banner on your system, so the least you can do is ask him, nicely, how to properly uninstall it. I'm sympathetic to your frustration, but this is the wrong place to vent it.
